Someone left a pair of reading glasses in the store this summer and since they went unclaimed for more than a month I considered them lawful crafting fodder. Here’s what we came up with!
Plaiditude Barrettes:
You will need:
- Old eyeglasses
- Mod Podge
- Glue (we used E600)
- Fabric Scraps
- Barrette blanks
- Sponge brush
- Small scissors
1.) Pop the lenses out of the old eye glasses, you can save the frames for another project or discard them at this point.
2.) Decide which portion of your fabric you want to show.
3.) Cut around the decided area allowing for a thin edge which will be removed later.
4.) Apply Mod Podge to the inside of your lens with your sponge brush.
5.) Place cut fabric piece on freshly Mod Podged lens and press firmly.
6.) Apply a layer of Mod Podge to the top of the fabric.
7.) Let dry completely.
8.) Trim the edges with small scissors
9.) Apply Glue along the entire top side of your blank barrette.
10.) Center barrette on the back of the lens, on the same side you glued your fabric to.
11.) Enjoy your awesome 1 of a kind Plaiditude Barrettes!
